Lizzie's emotions were all over the place at the moment. She was feeling rage, pain, guilt, grief. It was a lot to handle all at the same time. How she felt about MG and Ethan had temporarily been put on the backburner. Alaric was dying. And Hope had been the one to put him in the hospital. Vampire blood couldn't save him. And he seemed to be giving up.

Lizzie wanted to go back into his head, to scream at him to fight. But she knew it wouldn't do any good. Still, there had to be some way to save him. She needed to get away, needed to think. She left Josie and their friends in the hospital and decided to take a walk. If she could clear her head then maybe she could think of something.

Lizzie was unconcerned with her own safety right now as she brushed tears from her eyes and tried to take a few deep breaths. Malivore had been defeated, but at what cost? Hope was the tribrid now and she'd flipped her humanity switch but what had they expected? She had been all about Landon and now he was gone, truly gone this time. They should have seen this coming. Maybe if she hadn't been so selfish, she would have.

She picked up the pace, putting more distance between herself and the hospital. She just had to get away. She knew Josie would text her if there was any change in Alaric's condition. She choked back tears as they started flowing again and forced herself to calm down. Tears would not save her father.

Even with as vast as the world as a whole, and the sheer number of supernatural creatures that actually walked the earth, gossip and news traveled quickly. Though it likely helped when you weren't too far from the source location of the gossip that had perked your ears. Quite a few of the supernatural world had heard of Malivore, and had heard that he was dead. Which meant most of the supernatural world had took note of the red sky and the activation of the tribrid. Most wanted nothing to do with the creature that would be more dangerous than any one of her counterparts.

Kernnon wasn't like most of his kind though. Which is why he'd let himself find his way to Mystic Falls to explore the rumor of the tribrid and what she could do. Not that he'd approached her at all. Or really seen her. It's only his second night in the city but he can practically taste the emotions rolling off Lizzie when she gets close to where he'd been out for his own walk.

He's done his research on the school here, on those that are power players within it. The last of the Gemini Coven and their vampire hunter father turned school master. What he hadn't expected was for that vampire hunter to be near death, breaking a lot of the school and distracting them. Though from what he can gather, that was most of the point of what had happened.

Not that he'd let onto what he knew at all either. New in town, it'd be suspicious if he came out knowing anything. Which is why he makes it obvious as he steps out of the shadows of one of the trees, though he's on the path in front of her so it looks like he's just come around the bend of the path in front of her. Nothing weird. His brow arches when he sees her crying, even if he could smell her tears miles off too. "You okay?"

Lizzie hadn't expected to run into anyone on her walk. She hadn't even been thinking that. She was just consumed by her own thoights and worry about what was going to happen to Alaric. And if he died...what would become of all of them. The Salvatore School was needed. All of the supernatural kids could not go unchecked. And there was no telling what would happen if Alaric died. Lizzie could not allow herself to go there.

When she saw him and heard his voice, she brushed the tears away again, sniffling a bit. She didn't know who he was, but she definitely had no desire to appear weak in front of a stranger. Nothing that would make the young siphoner witch seem like easy prey. So she straightened up her stance and studied him for a moment, he was tall and very good looking. Not that she should have been thinking about that at the moment.

"I'm fine." A lie. But she wasn't about to pour her heart out to some random stranger. Mystic Falls was a dangerous place. They'd been through so much lately, with all the monsters. Malivore. It was just a lot. Lizzie didn't trust easily. A smiling face could easily be a foe just as likely as it could be a friend.

Tragedy has a strange way of flitting thoughts and worries across the mind. What ifs, what happens when, things that people aren't sure of for the future. Especially when you're so unsure of the actual future because things are so in flux. He hasn't heard what happened to her father exactly, but if vampire blood can't be used to help him , what about a healing spell of some kind? At least, that would be his potential suggestion if she were looking for an answer.

Then again, the person has to be willing to continue on. They can't give up or the spell isn't worth it.

A lie that was easily heard in the beat of her heart and the scent of her. Though his head cants just a little at her answer too. "It's been my experience that few are find if they're out walking around at this hour." Because this late at night, a pretty thing like her should, by rights, be settled in bed instead of walking around. Let alone crying. "Your eyes show signs of crying too. And that's usually not a sign of being fine either."

Who did this guy think he was making assumptions about who could possibly be out at this hour? Lizzie was less than impressed. Cute or not he did not know her or what she could do. It wasn't as if Lizzie was just some damsel. Hell no. Not ever. She was sassy on a good day and today was definitely not what she'd consider good.

"Oh and you're an expert on this things, are you? Maybe I just wanted to go for a walk." As for why she was crying, that was less than none of his business. Lizzie didn't know him from Adam. And what was he doing out wandering around this late? But no one made assumptions about guys who were out on their own at night, or at least not that they were weak or in need of rescuing. They just thought they were creepy or something.

"So I've been crying, so what?" Okay maybe she was being a little more snarky than she needed to be but he caught her on what might be the worst night of her life. And this was not helping her think. She just wanted to find a way to save Alaric. She didn't need some random guy making assumptions about her.

Someone who had lived more lifetimes over than her, so he has experience with the kinds of women he runs into while he's stalking for a new meal or a fun pet to play with some centuries. And to be fair, she wasn't just out here for an easy stroll. Her emotions were running wild, so she definitely was out not because she liked the night but because something was bothering her. So he's fairly accurate too. Not that she has to tell him that.

Though at her question and the bite in her voice, his hands get held up in front of him. The Universal sign for unarmed or I didn't mean to insult. "I'm not saying you can't just want to go for a walk. But the odds are slim for that being the sole case of being out this late." He hadn't meant to offend, though research only got so far about people he hadn't been able to meet.

"Are you okay?" Because that had been his original question to her, to be fair. He let a hand slide to the back of his head and scratch at his hair. "I didn't mean anything by it, but you look like something's upsetting you." Which, really she can't deny, can she?

Keeping her emotions in check had never been easy. Even with her meds she still had her outbursts. When Lizzie was unstable, she was more dangerous than most because of her powers. And it was safe to say right now she was definitely unstable. But to be fair, anyone who was in her position would be emotional. It was very likely that Alaric Saltzman wouldn't make it through tonight. Maybe he was already gone. But Lizzie wasn't ready to face that.

Lizzie closed her eyes, took a few deep breaths, and centered herself. Then she opened her eyes and studied his nonthreatening stance for a long moment. "I'm sorry," she said. "It's been a rough night." And it was clear he was reading her like a book despite what she'd said earlier. She wouldn't have believed her either.

What was that expression? It was easier to talk to a stranger than a friend sometimes? Something like that. "My dad is dying. He's in the hospital right now" She finally said. And saying the words aloud caused dizziness to wash over her and she faltered on her feet just a bit. "And it was a friend who put him there." Not a friend anymore. She wanted to kill Hope Mikaelson for what she'd done. She supposed that made her a bad person but she didn't care.

He moves closer when she finally seems to be opening up. It's a slow creep closer, trying not to alarm her but hopefully still keep her at ease. Close enough that when she falters just a little, his hand reaches out to catch her arm in a gentle hold. Though he does remove it once she seems settled on her feet again. Unsure if she'll be able to feel the magic that makes him a vampire with such a small touch or not. "I'm sorry to hear that. Is there nothing they can do to help save him?" Nothing she can do either, really? He'd be curious considering they have more than enough vampires around to fix the body even under the studious watch of the hospital staff.

Excuses can always be made for why someone seemed to miraculously heal, after all. Though with the increase in technology, it's going to be a losing battle soon enough to hide it.

There's a small motion toward one of the benches, a silent question if she wants to sit down to have this conversation. Especially with the way she faltered. Though he's happy to keep her on her feet for the moment. "It must make it all the harder that a friend put him there, though." Which does explain the emotions he can sense from her, the turmoil that seems to be bubbling up raw and free from her. "It's never easy when people closest to us are the ones that cause the pain, intentionally or accidentally." He's had some experience with that kind of thing, and knows how hard it can be to work your way out of the emotions that might blind you into rash choices.

Lizzie definitely got the sensation he was a vampire when he touched her but she also knew that didn't necessarily make him bad. She knew vampires who weren't. Like Kaleb. Well no, Kaleb was...complicated right now. Kaleb had handed Hope over to Malivore and might've been partially responsible for Alaric's current state. Maybe. She couldn't really think about it much right now, it would do nothing to quell her rage. And she had so much of it, just below the surface. She kept it in check most of the time, the meds helped but sometimes, in times like this, she was all rage and pain.

"I don't know if he wants to be saved," Lizzie said. Maybe it was that Alaric thought he deserved this or something. Thought he'd failed Hope. Why did it always feel like Hope came first? It wasn't right. She wanted to believe there was more to it than that, especially after seeing his memories. But it didn't matter. Alaric wasn't fighting.

She nodded and moved over to sit on the bench. "You should get out of Mystic Falls," she suggested. "It's a shit show and it always has been." Kernnon seemed nice enough so far, and he was being kind to her when she was in pain. Hopefully, he'd heed her warning before this place destroyed him too.

Angel had left that stupid school in the mountains as soon as she had a chance. Her sister seemed to... fall in line with what they wanted. Changed herself to fit into their pretty little boxes with their pretty little bows. She hated it for her, Mary-Rose giving up everything they were, everything they had been taught, just to become one of them. She mourned the loss of her sister for months, years, after Mount Triumph, but she lost her sister to the rest of the world and there was no going back for her.

Of course, with the way The Family moved so much, there was no telling where they were two years later. She tried to find them, but it was no use. Ace always made sure there were no traces left. They were like ghosts, appearing in the night and forgotten as soon as they moved on.

She's been on her own for the last six years, which isn't so bad. Mostly she's spent it traveling across the country. It's amazing the things people will do for a girl who looks lost.

This is a game she's played for so long, it's easy. She's on the side of the road dressed in a tank top and cut-off jean shorts, nothing to speak of to her name except the backpack she carries everywhere, trying to flag down a ride. No one has stopped yet, but she isn't worried. Someone will. They always do.

Kernnon knows how the nomadic life can pull on you sometimes, but also how it can be fun to set yourself up as a new person or see new things in the area. Not that there wasn't much he hadn't seen in this day and age. Mostly it was marking the changes between his visits, to see how the city had grown or fallen in his time away. But well, between not aging and needing blood to survive it also didn't let someone linger too long in places.

He's new to the area, as in he's just moved in to a house not too far down the road, against some trees and a little secluded from the neighborhood. It gives him the privacy he needs when he occasionally brings dinner home, after all.

What he doesn't expect is a pretty slip of a girl to be walking along the side of the road. All but the perfect meal, really. And he watches as several cars pass her without any sign of even slowing down. But he'll slow to a crawl next to her before finally stopping. The car's an older model, classic in it's shiny black paint and while it's older it looks new. Well cared for. But it also means that he can't just roll down the window for her. What he does do is park the car and stretch across the seat to open the door for her. He'll wait until she's at least looking into the car before he nods his head at the empty passenger seat. "Need a ride?"

She smiles to herself when she hears the car slow down and roll to a stop, turning to look into the now-open car door. "If you're offering." But she doesn't wait for a second invitation before scooping her bag off the ground and sliding into the car a second later.

"Where are you headed?" He's probably supposed to ask her that, but she doesn't have a destination, and she's much more interested in whatever this man might have in his plans for the night. "I don't know where I'm going. Just–" she moves one hand in curve. "wherever I end up, yanno?"

"Definitely offering. It's not safe for a lovely girl like you to be out on the road at this time of night." Like she was really any safer in the car with him. Not that anyone would ever know that. Though her questions have his brow arch just a little and his head tilt thoughtfully. Someone heading anywhere was definitely an interesting luck falling into his lap.

"Was headed home myself." He slowly edges the car back into the lane to continue heading in that direction. There aren't too many cars around, so it's not a hard job as he watches her. "Wherever you end up. Sounds like a nice and free life. Did you need somewhere to stay tonight? Or a bite of food?" Because he's more than happy to offer a late dinner and a bed to crash on. Especially because it'll make it all the easier to potentially feed from that pretty neck she had.

"Well, you must be my knight in shining armor." She grins, leaning back in the seat, looking over at him.

She nods at his summation, "It is. All beauty and adventure and new friends, everywhere I go." She shrugs. "At least until I find my Family, anyway." Something about the way she says the word makes it sound... different. Hard to say exactly what it was, though.

"I was in this crappy boarding school when I was sixteen that the state– Washington– shoved me in because I got arrested and it was part of some dumb rehabilitation program. Awful, awful place," she shakes her head. "Anyway, I had to stick through high school graduation and we move a lot, so I have no idea where anyone is. So..." She tugs one leg up into the seat to hug to her chest. "while I try to find them, wherever they are," she throws her hands out in a wide shrug. "this has been my life for the last six years."

She tilts her head back against the seat and looks at him again, a little smirk on her face. "A ride, food, and a place to stay? You really are my knight."

"It's certainly my honor to be your knight. Though what is the Lady's name that I'm saving?" Because names are important, especially to address her since she's basically agreed to stay the night already.

He can't help the grin as he nods, "New friends wherever you go sounds pretty fantastic. I've moved around a lot myself too, so I have made my fair share of new friends. I'm new here, actually." Not that his knowledge of the lay of the lands is showing that he's new because he seems pretty confident where he's going to head home.

"Rehabilitation program for what? What exactly did they arrest you for?" A side glance has him checking her out just a little more, curious to know exactly how someone so lovely with no obvious tattoos would end up arrested. Or what she and this Family were into that lead to getting her in the custody of the state. But also, that they left her behind has him frown a little. "And not to judge, but no one tried to get you out or find you in the last six years?"

His tone might relay that he doesn't find that very family like. Though he's trying not to judge someone he's just met either.

"What do you like food wise? We might have to order out, but there's actually a really good Chinese food place in town."

"I'm Angel." she smiles, "And you?"

She brightens even more, if that's possible, at the news of him being something of a nomad himself. "See, you get it! It's totally the best way to live, right?"

She laughs, it's a soft sound, light and airy and full of joy, at the look she just earned. People always look at her like that when she mentions being arrested, like she couldn't possibly be the one in the story. "That..." she practically sings the word. "is not a night one story. You have to earn that one." she grins again.

The question about the time just makes her shrug. "It's not their fault... how would they know where to find me? I left the school, no one knows where I am. I barely know where I am," another giggle escapes. She seems utterly unbothered by it, somehow. "It's okay, they'll find me when they're supposed to. Or I'll find them. Everything will work out."

Angel has dealt with people's opinions about her Family for her whole life, so she doesn't think much of his tone.

"Oooh, I haven't had Chinese in awhile. That sounds perfect. We have to get spring rolls, and orange chicken." She nods decisively.

"Angel, that's a sweet name." It definitely fits her look, small and blonde. "I'm Kernnon. It's a pleasure to meet you. And be your knight."

Because he likes the sound of that, even if he's already wondering how few people would actually come looking for her since she'd been on her own for the last six years. She can't find her family, they're not exactly looking for her. If she never left his house, no one would question it or come to find her. Or even know she existed in his neck of the woods.

His smile is easy as he nods, "Aye, I do. Moving on when you want, floating as you do to just enjoy where you are now. I definitely get it, and love it."

"Does that mean I need to keep you and feed you for a few more nights to be able to hear it?" He definitely sounds happy and able to do so, especially if it'll get him that story about what happened. Because really, it's not surprising that people want to know exactly how that happened, especially form someone who has such an innocent look to her.

It's less about the other things about her Family and more that they'd left her behind that he has opinions about. Family sticks together, tries to get each other back.

"Well why did they move after you were arrested? Instead of waiting for you to be released? Because even if the state put you in the house, they could have broken you out to get you back." See, that's probably not the answer or direction she normally gets either. It's less about the law of it and more about what Family means. What it should encompass. "Family protects, or it should." His opinion. Laws are not important when it comes to that bond.

There's a small nod though, smiling. "Spring rolls, orange chicken, and crab rangoon. They make the best here I've had in a while."

"Ace named me," she says it full of pride, like it was some sort of gift, though she doesn't bother explaining who Ace is. "He told my parents I was special... chosen. Touched by divine Grace." She smiles at the story that she has had memorized since she was old enough to understand words.

She cuts her eyes over to him at the question about keeping her. "I dunno. Let's see how you feel about it in the morning. You might decide you need to kick the random hitchhiker you mistakenly took home last night to the curb." It's all in jest, really. Angel is pretty sure she could stay as long as she wanted. She had a knack for getting what she wanted. But she wouldn't particularly be upset either way. A bed for a night was plenty, if it's all he decided he could spare.

"There were a lot of things that went wrong around that time... it probably wasn't safe for them to stay." She states it like a fact, despite not really knowing the answer. There's an unwavering conviction in it all, all the same.

She smiles at that. "Perfect."

It had been nearly five years since Piper Allison (or Alessandra De Luca as she'd been going by in recent years) had left London after her cousin and her boyfriend died and she started hunting down every single vampire, witch, and demon involved. While her boyfriend's childe was working his way up through whatever hellacious ranks there were in the supernatural underworld, she was hitting them where they least expected and kept as low-key as she could. By now, she knew they were onto her and knew she was coming for them but it didn't mean she needed to call attention to herself before she wanted to.

Instead, she moved about as needed, traveling as she had always wanted to and gathering information about the world around her, from the mundane to the supernatural. Along the way, she took the miscellaneous jobs if only to keep herself entertained and trained.

Tonight, she'd arrived in the new city just hours ago, checked into some nondescript hotel, and grabbed a quick bite to eat. Tomorrow, she'd meet her contact about a grimoire that she wanted to get her hands-on before moving on to the next place.

Piper felt too antsy to retire for the night just yet. Truth was, she always did when coming to a new place and was unsure of who or what she'd run into. So she did what she always did and start walking/patrolling her area. She didn't expect any sort of trouble, it felt fairly quiet all things considered but she knew that looks (and feelings) could be deceiving and so she kept on her guard.
