"It's certainly my honor to be your knight. Though what is the Lady's name that I'm saving?" Because names are important, especially to address her since she's basically agreed to stay the night already.
He can't help the grin as he nods, "New friends wherever you go sounds pretty fantastic. I've moved around a lot myself too, so I have made my fair share of new friends. I'm new here, actually." Not that his knowledge of the lay of the lands is showing that he's new because he seems pretty confident where he's going to head home.
"Rehabilitation program for what? What exactly did they arrest you for?" A side glance has him checking her out just a little more, curious to know exactly how someone so lovely with no obvious tattoos would end up arrested. Or what she and this Family were into that lead to getting her in the custody of the state. But also, that they left her behind has him frown a little. "And not to judge, but no one tried to get you out or find you in the last six years?"
His tone might relay that he doesn't find that very family like. Though he's trying not to judge someone he's just met either.
"What do you like food wise? We might have to order out, but there's actually a really good Chinese food place in town."
She brightens even more, if that's possible, at the news of him being something of a nomad himself. "See, you get it! It's totally the best way to live, right?"
She laughs, it's a soft sound, light and airy and full of joy, at the look she just earned. People always look at her like that when she mentions being arrested, like she couldn't possibly be the one in the story. "That..." she practically sings the word. "is not a night one story. You have to earn that one." she grins again.
The question about the time just makes her shrug. "It's not their fault... how would they know where to find me? I left the school, no one knows where I am. I barely know where I am," another giggle escapes. She seems utterly unbothered by it, somehow. "It's okay, they'll find me when they're supposed to. Or I'll find them. Everything will work out."
Angel has dealt with people's opinions about her Family for her whole life, so she doesn't think much of his tone.
"Oooh, I haven't had Chinese in awhile. That sounds perfect. We have to get spring rolls, and orange chicken." She nods decisively.
"Angel, that's a sweet name." It definitely fits her look, small and blonde. "I'm Kernnon. It's a pleasure to meet you. And be your knight."
Because he likes the sound of that, even if he's already wondering how few people would actually come looking for her since she'd been on her own for the last six years. She can't find her family, they're not exactly looking for her. If she never left his house, no one would question it or come to find her. Or even know she existed in his neck of the woods.
His smile is easy as he nods, "Aye, I do. Moving on when you want, floating as you do to just enjoy where you are now. I definitely get it, and love it."
"Does that mean I need to keep you and feed you for a few more nights to be able to hear it?" He definitely sounds happy and able to do so, especially if it'll get him that story about what happened. Because really, it's not surprising that people want to know exactly how that happened, especially form someone who has such an innocent look to her.
It's less about the other things about her Family and more that they'd left her behind that he has opinions about. Family sticks together, tries to get each other back.
"Well why did they move after you were arrested? Instead of waiting for you to be released? Because even if the state put you in the house, they could have broken you out to get you back." See, that's probably not the answer or direction she normally gets either. It's less about the law of it and more about what Family means. What it should encompass. "Family protects, or it should." His opinion. Laws are not important when it comes to that bond.
There's a small nod though, smiling. "Spring rolls, orange chicken, and crab rangoon. They make the best here I've had in a while."
"Ace named me," she says it full of pride, like it was some sort of gift, though she doesn't bother explaining who Ace is. "He told my parents I was special... chosen. Touched by divine Grace." She smiles at the story that she has had memorized since she was old enough to understand words.
She cuts her eyes over to him at the question about keeping her. "I dunno. Let's see how you feel about it in the morning. You might decide you need to kick the random hitchhiker you mistakenly took home last night to the curb." It's all in jest, really. Angel is pretty sure she could stay as long as she wanted. She had a knack for getting what she wanted. But she wouldn't particularly be upset either way. A bed for a night was plenty, if it's all he decided he could spare.
"There were a lot of things that went wrong around that time... it probably wasn't safe for them to stay." She states it like a fact, despite not really knowing the answer. There's an unwavering conviction in it all, all the same.

She smiles at that. "Perfect."
